Tom Watts was born 16th February 1866 in the village of Broughton Creek, part of the Estate of Alexander Berry, (the name was changed to Berry in 1890), on the South Coast of NSW .
He was one of 12 children of John Watts and Catherine Mary (Steadman).
He married Agnes McCullough in St Bartholomews Church at Prospect (near Blacktown) on 24 December 1890.

They had six children:
Two of their children died young:
Their daughter Elizabeth Agnes Watts died in 1901 aged only 3 after her nightgown caught fire and she was badly burned.
Their oldest son, John William went to war in 1916 and died in battle at Bullecourt, France on 5th May 1917.
Thomas died 12th July 1928, Agnes died 10th April 1953.
They are buried in Wollongong Cemetery.
