Susannah McMullen was born about 1815 in Aghalee, County Antrim, the daughter of Archibald McMullen and Mary Jane (nee O'Hara).
They were married in the Church of Scotland, Magheragal, Co. Antrim Ireland on the 12th January 1841.
It was a mixed marriage - he was Protestant, she was Roman Catholic.
Having no support from their families, they decided to start a new life in Australia.
They arrived in Sydney on 17 August 1841 on board the ship "Pearl" after a 4 month trip.
Susan was 7 months pregnant when they arrived.
They settled in Kings Plains (Blayney) 37 km south-west of Bathurst, NSW.
His occupation is listed as a shoemaker and later a farmer.
They had 10 children:
Samuel died 26th November 1888.
Susan died 8th December 1897.
They are buried together in the Catholic portion of Blayney Cemetery.
