William and Margaret NEASMITH

William Neasmith born 1796 in Glasgow, Scotland and Margaret (nee Murray) born 1803 also in Glasgow.

William was a weaver and later the manager of a textile mill in Manchester where he died in January 1842.

The widow Margaret and her 4 youngest children came to Australia on the ship "Bermondsey" which arrived in Port Jackson on 9th December 1848.

Mary 1821 - 1913, arrived separately with her husband John MacKinlay. They lived in Sydney.

The family became widely scattered mainly due to following the gold diggings.

Margaret 1823 - 1911, married John Hendry in 1849 at Burnima, Monaro (near Bombala) then moved to Melbourne then Noorat near Warnambool.

William 1825 - 1910, married Agnes Ralston at Ryde in 1854 and then settled in Temora, NSW.

Elizabeth 1831 - 1869, married David Matthews in 1850 at Dundundera, Monaro (near Bombala) and then moved to Victoria.

Agnes 1835 - 1912, married William McCullough in 1855 at Ryde, NSW and then moved to Curraweela, near Taralga, NSW. They later moved to Prospect near Blacktown where they lived until they died there. They are buried in Prospect Cemetery.
