William McCULLOUGH and Agnes NEASMITH

William McCullough arrived in NSW on 30 May 1848 on board the ship "Honduras" which left Belfast 23 January 1848. He came with his half sister - Sarah Ann Smith.

He was 20 Sarah was only 12.

They joined William's sister Jane McCULLOUGH who was working as a domestic servant at "Ryedale", Ryde, NSW - the property of Major Edward DARVALL (ex 9th cavalry)

Agnes Neasmith arrived in Port Jackson, NSW (aged 13) on 9 Dec 1848 on board ship "Bermondsey" with her mother, brother and two sisters.

They were married in St Anne's Church, Ryde, Parish of Hunters Hill.

They lived in the Ryde District at "Ryedale" until about 1859 and had two children there: Sarah Jane b. 1856 and John b. 1858.

Sarah Jane died 11 Sep 1858 of Scarlet Fever aged 2 years and 3 months.

They moved to a farm at Emu Flat, Curraweela (near Taralga and Goulburn) and had 8 children there.

The family returned to Sydney to live at Prospect, near Blacktown - some time after 1878.

Jane DARVALL

William's older sister - Jane McCullough married Edward Darvall in 1852 at Ryde. He was aged 76 and she was 29. They had two children: Anthony William and Sarah Anne.

After Edward's death in 1869, she continued to live at "Ryedale" until she died in April 1899.

Their half-sister, Sarah Ann SMITH, married Thomas Malcolm Rogers in 1854 and moved to Adelong where she died in 1926.
