Mary had been convicted for the violent robbery of one Henry Rice and stealing goods to the value of 2 Pounds 12 shillings and 8 pence in the dwelling house of Mary Hopkins on 25h December 1806. She was tried in Surrey Gaol Delivery on 18th March 1807 and sentenced to 7 years transportation.
She sailed to NSW on board the ship "Speke" which departed Falmouth on 18th May 1808 and arrived in Sydney on 16th November 1808 with a son, Thomas (see below).
On 28th February 1811, she was given a Ticket of Leave and resided in the Sydney district.
Mary is noted in the following musters:
1811 - Residence NSW.
1814 - Resided Sydney, shown as "wife to J. Boyne".
1822 - "freed by servitude, "wife of Faircourt".
1828 - Religion: Protestant, Occupation: Servant, Employer: Wm Hawthorne, Residence: Wilberforce.
Mary petitioned the Colonial Secretary seeking permission to marry John Sealey/Seeley, a resident of Windsor. They were married on 27th October 1829 at St. John's Prebyterian Church, Wilberforce.
No more is known about her after this.
Thomas Kelly was born about 1803 and came to NSW on board the ship "Speke" 16th November 1808 with his convict mother Mary (see above) about the age of 5 years.
In the 1825 muster he is shown as a constable at Windsor.
Thomas married Mary Ann Webb 9th October 1826 at St Matthews C of E Church, Windsor.
Mary Ann Webb was a convict who was tried at Old Bailey on 23 Feb 1824 for stealing 9 Sovereigns from her employer. Sentenced to death but commuted because of her age to transportation for life.
The 1828 muster shows Thomas and Mary Ann working for Owen Bowen at Goulburn Plains.
In the 1842 muster he is listed at Burwar, near Braidwood.
About 1846 settled at Cowra (or Coura) Creek, Monaro, north of Cooma.
Thomas and Mary Ann had 10 children:
Thomas died 5 July 1849 at Cowra Creek, Monaro.
After Thomas Kelly's death, Mary Ann married William Henry Glass at Bredbo on 27th June 1850.
They had two children:
Mary Ann died at Bathurst 15 May 1880 and is buried in Bathurst R.C. Cemetery.
