Jane was born in Hawkhurst, Kent in 1820.

Baker was born in Dover, Kent in 1798.

He had been a sailor on the ship "Oriental" on which Jane and her family had sailed from Plymouth to New Zealand in 1841.

They had 6 children:

2. Maria Watts 1847 - ?
3. Albert Polhill 1849 - 1850
4. Ann Polhill 1849 - ?
5. Edward Craig Polhill Watts 1851 - ?
6. Thomas Polhill Watts 1852 - ?

Baker died 6th November 1853 in Lyttelton, NZ aged 55

After his death, Jane and her children left New Zealand and joined her parents in Jamberoo, NSW.

There she married William BOVIS, a native of Kent on 15th June 1855.

They had 3 children:

1. Emma Bovis 1855 - ?
2. Jesse Bovis 1859 - 1933
3. George Henry Bovis 1861 - 1880

William died on 15th August 1905 in Bulli, NSW.

Jane died 26th June 1916 in Woonona, NSW aged 96.

She is buried in Bulli Methodist Cemetery.
