On 24 Jan 1886, he married Isabella Hannah Rock aged 20 at Kings Plains.
They lived at Newbridge, near Blayney.
The story goes that in the 1890's Archibald had all his money invested in the bank when Depression hit.
His life savings were lost when the banks crashed. (He never trusted his money to a bank after that).
Archibald packed his wife and 5 children into a dray and travelled north to look for work in Bathurst, Lithgow, Rylstone, Mudgee and then to the Hunter Valley where they settled in Abermain, near Cessnock.
Archibald worked as a carrier - ice in summer and coal in winter.
Isabella ran the post office at Abermain.
They had 8 children:
Archibald died 30 Mar 1939 in Abermain aged 78.
Isabella died 9 Feb 1957 in Abermain, aged 92.
They are both buried in the RC section of Kurri Kurri Cemetery.
